FLORENCE — Two passengers in the same car shot and killed each other in the early morning hours of May 3.

The two men, whose names are not being released until next of kin are notified, were found May 3 by the Florence County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a call of an unknown problem and found the two men in the car on Meadors Road, just west of Florence, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

A woman was driving the car the two men were found in, with one in the back seat and one in the front.

The passengers got into a verbal fight, and the back seat passenger shot the front seat passenger multiple times. The front seat passenger returned fire, hitting the back seat passenger once. Both died from their wounds.

One of the guns at the scene was reported stolen from New York.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, and charges are not expected to be filed, according to the sheriff's office.
