The Williamsburg County Public School Foundation (WCPSF) hosted its Eighth Annual Hall of Fame Gala on Friday, March 29, at the Kingstree Senior High School Gymnasium. The Gala was well-attended, filled with entertainment and excitement, and enjoyed by all. This year, four individuals were inducted into the Foundation’s Hall of Fame. Those persons were Mrs. Mary Beth Cottingham, former Kingstree High School and Williamsburg Technical College Instructor; Mrs. Cheryl Epps-Nornoo, founder of Lachelle Holdings Incorporated, Coalition for Teens Helping Teens Inc. (CFTHT), and Polished Pearls Seminars for Teen Girls; Mrs. Julia B. McFadden, retired educator and former Williamsburg County School Board of Trustees Member; and Carolyn F. Williams, former Williamsburg County Clerk of Court, the first African-American  to hold the clerk of court office in the State of South Carolina.

Attorney Ronnie E. Sabb, District 32 State Senator, was the Gala’s host. After the Posting of the Colors by the Hemingway High School JROTC, Miss Courtney Smith, a Hemingway High student, delivered an astounding rendition of the National Anthem. Other program participants included Dr. Rose H. Wilder, Superintendent of WCSD, who brought greetings; Pastor Ian Geimer, Senior Pastor of Kingstree First Baptist Church, who shared words of inspiration; Chakaysha Pressley, who sang two beautiful selections befitting the occasion; and Rick Gardner, Saxophonist, accompanied by Isaiah Mitchell, on keyboards, who serenaded guests as a delicious meal was enjoyed.

After dinner, honorees were recognized, individually, and each shared warm words of appreciation. Members of the WCPSF Board of Directors and Superintendent Wilder, then, inducted the honorees into the Hall of Fame, and presented them tokens of appreciation.

Proceeds from the Gala will be used to continue support of the WCPSF Student College Grants and to implement the Teacher Grants component for the 2019-2020 school year. During the 2018-2019 school year 16 Student College Grants were awarded.

WCPSF wishes to thank all supporters, participants and contributors who helped to fund this event.
