Jiree London Evans

Jiree London Evans was picked up by federal marshals on Monday, December 11, and handed over to the Kingstree Police Department (KPD). Police had been searching for Evans, who is accused of being involved in a shooting incident during a September 13, robbery on 2nd Ave. in Kingstree.

According to KPD Lt. Robert Lee, Evans, 28, of Florence was picked up by U.S. Marshals at the parole office in Florence. Evans was extradited to the KPD and booked into the Williamsburg County Detention Center. On Tuesday, December 12, he was released on a $70,000 surety bond.

According to a police incident report, the victim and his family were inside their home when three suspects entered. When one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim’s infant child, he stepped in front of the firearm and was shot in the chest. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Kadeem Cleveland McFadden, 18, of Lake City, was apprehended a few days after the robbery. He admitted to police and Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office investigators of his involvement in the armed robbery. McFadden was charged with Attempted Murder, two counts Kidnapping, and other charges. A third suspect, Devonte Turner turned himself into police.

KPD has an outstanding warrant for Erick Raquim McCrea, Jr., 19, of Lake City. McCrea is currently in custody at the Florence County Detention Center, where he has been charged with two counts of Attempted Murder in an incident that occurred in the Lake City area. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
