C. E. Murray High School’s Wide Receiver Darius Rush has signed his National Letter of Intent to play football with the University of South Carolina-Columbia.
Rush has received multiple awards and recognition for his performance on the football field, and he was named the Co-Player of the Year for Region 5-A, Sumter TD Club Scholar Athlete Award, Wendy’s Heisman School Winner, Sumter TD Special Teams Player of the Year, Mr. Football and HSSR All-Statewide Team. He finished with 863 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns for the War Eagles, and he competed in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas at Wofford College this past December and was one of only 44 seniors selected to represent the state of South Carolina.
Rush was a scholar athlete, Junior Marshal, Honor Roll Student and member of numerous clubs and organizations at C. E. Murray, and he was also enrolled at Williamsburg Technical College and honored to be included on the WTC Merit List. Rush has enrolled at USC as a Sports and Entertainment Management major.
Rush is the son of Sonja Rush-Harvin and the late George Harvin. Coach Chad Wilkes serves as head football coach and athletic director at C. E. Murray High School, and Dr. Gwendolyn Harris is the school’s principal.
