Gail Devers Olympic gold medalist winner in the 100 meters for the USA hosted and was special guest at the USATF South Carolina State Meet held in Rock Hill from June 20 to June 23. Carolina Gold team members DeAudria Fulton, Derrick “DJ” Fulton, Jr., and Tyler George participated in the event. At the Region meet in Rock Hill from July 5 to July 7, they competed against club teams from Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. The Top 5 in each age group qualified for Nationals in Sacramento, California.

DeAudria and Derrick, Jr. are the children of Derrick Fulton and Latoya Brunson. They participated in the 13-14 year old division and summer 2019 was their first year competing with the club. DeAudria competed in are the 100m dash, 200m dash, 4x100m relay, and long jump. She made it to the Top 8 in all of her individual events and was member of the 13-14 girls State Champion 4x100m relay team. She ran personal bests in the 100m and 200m and finished 15th in both events.

Derrick, Jr. competed in the 100m dash, 200m dash, and 400m dash. He advanced to the finals in both the 200m and 400m for his age group at the USATF South Carolina State Meet, finishing 5th in the 200m, and 6th in the 400m, which qualified him to compete at the Region 4 Meet. At the Region 4 Meet he finished in 12th place in the 200m and in the 400m he finished in 13th place. The Top 5 in each age group qualified for Nationals in Sacramento, California.

Tyler George is the daughter of Dexter and Jackie George. She participated in the 9-10 year old division and summer 2019 was her third season competing with the club. She competed in the 100m dash, 200m dash, and long jump. She finished 2nd in the 100m, 3rd in the 200m, and 6th in the long jump at the USATF South Carolina State Meet, which qualified her to compete at the Region 4 Meet. At the Region 4 meet, she finished in 6th place, missing out by one tenth of a second, but ran a personal best in the 100m. In the 200m, she finished in 10th place.
