In an effort to expand our scope of service to the community, the Coalition for Teens Helping Teens, Polished Pearls Leadership Seminars for Teen Girls, and the A Perfect Swing Foundation partnered with the Housing Authority of Kingstree for its annual back to school celebration and supply giveaway.
The event was held on Saturday, August 9, at the Frierson Homes Community Center. Approximately 150 students were equipped with book bags, composition tablets, paper, pens, pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, calculators, hand sanitizer, and clear zip lock bags.
In addition to the school supplies, the participants enjoyed games and lunch. All of these organizations understand the importance of ensuring that our youth have an opportunity to be successful and it starts with having the proper supplies.
The one unique thing about the partner organizations is that their CEO/founders are all natives of Kingstree and actively give back to the community that gave to them growing up. Charyl Epps-Nornoo, Ashaunta Epps, and Josa Epps-McIntosh are all graduates of Kingstree Senior High School. Class of 1991, 1993, and 1981 respectively.
Prior community events include the back to school celebration and supply giveaway 2013, Celebration of Girls, A Perfect Swing Golf and networking weekend trip for the youth to the Legends Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach and various leadership seminars held throughout the year.
The Coalition For Teens Helping Teens, Incorporated, which is a nonprofit organization that has put teen development at the core of its purpose. Realizing that so many teens have the potential to accomplish so much, they have focused their efforts on motivating and boosting the personal drive of our youth.
Its mission is to help teens recognize their inner strengths and develop a heightened sense of self-awareness such that they embrace education with an inspired will to contribute and lead in their communities.

A Perfect Swing Foundation looks to enhance the lives of youth through the principles of golf.
Its mission is to introduce golf as a low impact alternative for sports and exercise, by teaching the technique of the sport and arranging golf outings.
