A Salters man was killed in a Sunday morning crash. Williamsburg County Deputy Coroner Vernal Fulton identified the driver as Jerome Anthony Coleman, 54, of Salters.

The crash occurred July 7, around 1:15 a.m. approximately four miles west of Andrews. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol Corporal Sonny Collins, the driver of a 2011 Ford pickup was driving west on Highway 521 when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Coleman was killed as a result of injuries sustained from the crash. A passenger was transported to a local hospital. Neither were wearing a seatbelt.

As of July 7, 472 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 520 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
