Dr. Wright Skinner
An old friend is back. After taking a hiatus from his practice, Dr. Wright Skinner III, MD, is accepting patients. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held May 6, with Williamsburg Regional Hospital CEO Sharon Poston in attendance. “He was away from us for a few years and we’re absolutely thrilled to have him back, and the whole community is thrilled to have him back,” said Poston. “I had so many people talk about waiting for him to get back here. I think there is a list of patients half a mile at least.”
Dr. Wright Skinner celebrated his return to practice with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Skinner was surrounded by hospital administration and staff who have been anxiously awaiting for his return.

Dr. Skinner is a graduate of MUSC with Residency in Orthopedic Surgery. Skinner is credited for developing a minimally invasive knee replacement surgery for Zimmer and is the only physician performing the surgery in the surrounding area. His office is located in Kingstree at Williamsburg Medical Plaza, 402 Nelson Blvd. Suite 400. He expressed his appreciation after the ribbon cutting by thanking everyone who stuck by him. “I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be back,” he said. “If it weren’t for Dr. (Troy) Gamble I wouldn’t be here to begin with, either medically or physiologically or physical. And I can’t thank Sharon enough for sticking by me and everyone else on the staff.”
