A train collided with a truck in Williamsburg County on Friday, January 12. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. The 2013 Utility International truck owned by South Carolina Forestry Commission was loaded with a bulldozer and was waiting on the tracks at Eastland Avenue and US Hwy. 52 North in Kingstree to enter the highway when a CSX train collided with the bumper of the truck.

According to South Carolina Forestry Commission Communications Director Doug Wood, the driver was a CDL trainee and the passenger was a trainer. The truck was between a stalled car waiting to enter the highway and another vehicle. The guard rails began to lower and the passengers of the truck could see the train approaching. The rear car was able to back up enough that the train only clipped the bumper of the truck. The passengers of the truck exited the vehicle before the incident. The truck was damaged. No one was injured.
