Drew Godwin, Human Resources Director for Town of Kingstree.

The Town of Kingstree has hired Drew Godwin as Human Resources Director to take the place of Leonard Lowery who recently stepped down.

“The Human Resource Director plays a key role in developing an organization’s culture,” says Kingstree Town Manager Kipp Coker. “Mr. Godwin has hit the ground running towards developing our staff and we are very excited to have him.”

Godwin is a Williamsburg County native who attended Carolina Academy in Lake City. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Francis Marion University, and went on to graduate school at USC School of Medicine for a degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.

Godwin’s professional background includes jobs at the Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health, and the Special Olympics in Columbia as a Sports Training Specialist.  He became a guidance counselor for E. Clarendon High School and worked at several different fire departments.

“I was having so much fun as a firefighter, I went full time,” says Godwin.  He worked at South Lynches Fire Department in Lake City as the Fire Inspector and Fire Prevention. He has been the Division Chief for the Lake City Fire Department since 2018.

Godwin and his wife Christa and have two children, who both recently got married.  His son Mac is a captain for the City of Florence Fire Department, and his daughter Farrel is a fifth-grade teacher at Pocallo Springs Elementary in Sumter. And he’s sure to not leave out his third child, Jessamine, his golden lab.
