Seniors Patrol - The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden resident of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford.

Yard Sale - The Pilot Club of Kingstree will have a yard sale on Saturday, May 5, in the parking lot of the First Citizens Bank on Longstreet Street beginning at 7:30 a.m.

 

Memory Dish - Hospice Care of South Carolina's Grief Support Group, known as the "Memory Dish" is held the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Williamsburg Technical Col-lege (Administrative Office Building Conference Room). The Memory Dish is conducted by Chaplain Willis Broughton. The contact number for this group is: (843) 213-8507.

Senior Bingo - The senior citizens in Lane invite any senior citizen to join them each first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo.”

 

Weight Watchers - Weight Watchers 2012 meetings will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays at 5 p.m.

 

Screenings - Williamsburg County School District Office of Special Services, located at 500 North Academy Street, Kingstree, (843) 355-5533, will hold child find screenings each month.

 

 Applications -  The Celebrate Freedom Foundation is pleased to announce it is accepting student applications to its SOaR Aviation Aerospace Summer Camp.  

 The camp is open to all sophomore and junior high school students in the state of South Carolina.  The camp will be held at the University of South Carolina on July 15 to July 20,  free of charge.  Only 50 applicants will be accepted. More information can be found at www.thecelebratefreedomfoundation.org.

 

Training - Williamsburg County needs child advocates. Free training for the Williamsburg Guardian ad Litem Program will be held Monday, May 7, at 9 a.m.

Grief Meeting - Tidelands Community Hospice in cooperation with Williamsburg Funeral Home will sponsor a six part grief support workshop for those in Kingstree and surrounding communities who have lost a loved one and are grieving their loss.

 The meetings will be held at Williamsburg Funeral  Home (322 E. Main St.) on successive Thursday mornings from April 19 through May 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., A light lunch will follow. There is no charge for this event.

Camp - Camp Wildwood of South Carolina opens for 2012 registration. Wildwood  is an outdoor environmental camp for 10th through 12th grade students and is in session June 17  to June 23, at Kings Mountain State Park. Daily activities, conducted by professional resource staff members include instruction in fisheries, forestry, firearm safety, orienteering, first aid, soils and wildlife. Support Group - The  Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group will meet the third Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Williamsburg Technical College, Classroom # 226. Participants may park in the front or back visitor’s parking lot.  Contact person for this group is Nancy Adams (843) 822-5133. The support group is free and open to the public.  All family members and friends are invited to attend.

 

Weapons Permit Class - A concealed weapon permit class will be held at the Kingstree Police Department located at 401 N. Longstreet St., Kingstree on May 12, at 8 a.m.

Must have weapon and holster with 50 rounds of ammunition for qualification. Any questions notify Sgt. Marc K. Whitfield at (843) 355-5435.

 

KUMC Yard Sale - Kingstree United Methodist Church will have a yard sale on Saturday, May 5, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. The church is located at 510 N. Longstreet St., Kingstree.

 

Free Day Pass - RuthLouis Adult Health Day Care Centers  is a licensed adult daycare center where you or your loved ones will be cared for and supervised by professional RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.  The centers are Alzheimer's certified.

They provide Nursing Services, Activities of Daily Living, Rehabilitative Care, Daily Activities, and Nutrition Meals served hot and tasty. The  doors are opened to any and all qualifying adults with a disability or health condition, Alzheimer clients welcome.

Day of Prayer - Thursday, May 3, will be the National Day of Prayer.  There will be a small ceremony held in front of Williamsburg County Courthouse steps at 12 p.m.

 

Meeting - The Williamsburg County Democratic Party next monthly meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 5, at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Williamsburg County Recreation Complex, located at 2084 Thurgood Marshall Highway, Kingstree.  This meeting is open to the public. Dedication - Everyone is invited to attend the dedication of the new Felician Center facility at 1000 Thorne Avenue in Kingstree on Friday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m.  The grand opening of the new facility will feature the Clothing Closet and an Indoor Sale on Monday, July 2, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

 

Worship Experience - The First Assembly of God Church in Kingstree will be offering a non-traditional, contemporary worship experience, beginning on Saturday, June 16; the service will begin at 5:17 p.m., and will last for one hour. The church is currently looking for those who may be interested in playing instruments (these include but are not limited to drums, keyboard, bass guitar, electric guitar, and acoustic guitar).  In addition, the church is looking for those individuals who would love to help plan and launch this worship experience.  Informational and planning meetings will be on Thursdays, May 3, 10, 17, and 31.  The meetings will begin promptly at 7 p.m. at the church.  First Assembly of God is located at 872 Sumter Hwy., Kingstree.   You can also email the church at kingstreefirstag@gmail.com or call at  (843) 382-5348.

 

Teachings From The Ark - Teachings From The Ark announces the following events for the month of May. May 5 Mother’s Day celebration with dining May 12 Teachings

May 19 a movie, admission is  $3, adults and $2, children with free refreshments at 11:30 a.m. May 26 closed All events start at 12 p.m. except movie and food pantry.

Teachings From The Ark’s Food Pantry will be open to the public, Saturday, May 19, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at 101 E. Main St., Kingstree. All recipients are required to show a current valid photo I.D. in order to receive commodities. No exceptions.
