Seniors Patrol - The Kingstree Police Depart-ment is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden residents of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford. Memory Dish - Hospice Care of South Caro-lina's Grief Support Group, known as the "Memory Dish" is held the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Williamsburg Technical Col-lege (Administrative Office Building Conference Room). Senior Bingo - The senior citizens of Lane invite any senior citizen to join them every first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo.”

Meeting - The Housing Authority of Kingstree will meet every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 1022 Lexington Ave., Kingstree.

 

Support Group - The  Alzheimer’s Associa-tion Caregiver Support Group will meet the third Friday of each month from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Library, Main Library’s Meeting Room in Kingstree. Honor Flight - World War II veterans wanted to participate in the next Honor Flight to Washington, DC for a one-day trip, which will include a tour of many of the War Memorials. The day will end with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, then fly home. There is no cost to you, it’s free. Doll Exhibition - “Our Beautiful African American Dolls” on exhibition will be originals, one-of-a-kinds, artist limited edition dolls, character dolls, vintage and antique dolls from August 7 to September 30, Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at C. Location Change - The location for the September monthly meeting of the Georgetown County AUTISM SUPPORT GROUP has changed. The meetings for Tuesday, September 11, will be held at St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church on the corner of Highmarket and Broad streets in Georgetown. Please follow the signs to the designated classroom in the parish hall. The usual meeting time is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  There is plenty of parking on Broad Street (across from Prince George Episcopal Church). Songs and Poetry - An evening of songs, poetry, and spoken word, hosted by Quinton and Tameca Graham Ministries, will be held September 8, at 6 p.m. at St. Lawrence Community Center, 5321 US Hwy. 521, Salters.

 

Stag Festival - The Town of Lane announces its seventh annual Stag Festival to be held from September 14 to September 16. The event will start Friday night at 7 p.m. with a free fish fry, street dance and games. On Saturday the town will host a parade at 10 a.m. The line up will begin at 9 a.m. at the Lane Mini Mart. If you are an entertainer and are interested in performing at the Stag Festival, please give Ms. Mouzon or Ms. McGill a call with your group name and type of performance you want to present. Concealed Weapons Class - A Concealed Weapon Permit class will be held September 15, at 8 a.m. at the Kingstree Police Department, located at 401 N. Longstreet St., Kingstree. Must have weapon and holster with 50 rounds of ammunition for qualification.

Showcase - The Florence Short Film Showcase is now accepting short film submissions for the 2013 showcase, taking place Friday, February 8, 2013, in Florence.

Filmmakers are encouraged to submit short films directed by a Black person, tells a story of the Black experience, and/or features a Black person in a leading role in all genres and no longer than 40 minutes in running time. Blood Drive - Santee Electric Cooperative will host another American Red Cross community blood drive at 424 Sumter Highway on Wednesday, August 22, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Santee’s Operations Building.
