
Several law enforcement agencies investigate the discovery of a body in Lane on August 2, identified as Tiress Orlando Morant.

A Lane man missing for several days was discovered in a field near a neighbor's house. According to officials, Tiress Orlando Morant, 40, had been missing since July 28. On August 2, Lane Police Department was notified of Morant's disappearance. A search was initiated with the assistance of the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office and the Williamsburg County Fire Department Search and Rescue Team. Search and Rescue discovered Morant's body lying in a grassy field behind a mobile home located at the intersection of Broomstraw Road and Edwin Road.
Williamsburg County Coro-ner Harrison McKnight has ordered an autopsy. "Every-thing is pending at this time," said McKnight.
Morant was a lifelong resident of Lane. The cause of death continues to be under investigation by Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office and SLED.
