Hemingway man charged

On Sunday, April 1, the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hemingway resident, George Junior Williams on two counts of grand larceny over $10,000.

The arrest came after a month long investigation into the theft of farm equipment stolen from a farm off of Cockfield Road in the Hemingway area.  Williams became a person of interest early in the investigation.  Williams, along with a co-defendant went onto the Altman farm and took over $55,000 worth of items and sold it at Don’s Car Crushing in Hemingway.

Williams and the co-defendant went to the property several times taking items. An arrest warrant has been issued for the co-defendant and the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for the second suspect.
