Funeral services for William Charlie Nesmith, conducted by the Rev. Winston Boyd, were held Saturday, November 3, 2012, at First Church of Christ of Andrews. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Old St. John Station AME Church Zion Cemetery of Trio. Mr. Nesmith died Sunday, October 28, 2012. He was born July 19, 1925, the son of William and Hannah Nesmith. He attended Trio Elementary School. He worked at Merita Bakery for 45 years, until he retired. After retiring, he assisted with the family janitorial service. He was a member and Deacon of the First Church of Christ. His first wife, Valarie Nesmith, three daughters, Iva Scott, Loris Nesmith and Val Nesmith, and three siblings, James Nesmith, Lizzy Bell Nesmith, and Sammy Nesmith, preceded him in death. Survivors are: his wife, Mamie Ruth Nesmith of Andrews; his children, Christine Nesmith, Charles Nesmith (Vickie), and Donald Nesmith (Sherry), all of Charlotte, North Carolina; Robert Nesmith and Sammantha Nesmith, both of Andrews; one stepson, Freddie Eaton of Columbia; one brother, William Nesmith, Jr. (Eloise) of Charlotte, North Carolina; three sisters, Annamae Chandler (Samuel) of Andrews; Catherine Whitmore of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Susanna Salters (James) of Georgetown; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
