Funeral services for Verda Sylvesta Gadsden Williams, conducted by the Rev. Benjamin Milligan, were held Friday, February 15, 2013, at Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church of Pineville. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Blanding Cemetery of Pineville. Mrs. Williams died Monday, February 11, 2013. She was born February 7, 1931, the daughter of the late Roseanna Middleton Gadsden and Peter Gadsden. She grew up in the Russellville section of Berkeley County, where she attended and graduated from the public school system. She was a member of Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the church’s Missionary Society. She was married to the late Hezekiah Williams.

Survivors are: one son, Darryl Stanford Williams (Susanna) of Atlanta, Georgia; Godchildren, Gwendolyn W. Jones, Avis G. Riley and Coretta Simmons; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ronald Brown, Eugene Norton, Jacob Johnson, Ishmael Prioleau, William C. Mobley, and Albert Smalls.
