The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of July.

Senior Bingo in Lane
The senior citizens in Lane invite any senior citizen to join them each first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo,” where they do crafting, have Bible trivia, sing, share, fellowship and play Bingo.

Seniors patrol wellness check
The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden resident of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford. Chief Ford can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number and address.

Tideland’s Hospice meeting
Tidelands Community Hospice, Inc. holds a regular grief support group once a month in its Kingstree office. The group meets on the third Monday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m.  The hospice office is located at 205 Martin Luther King Blvd., Kingstree (by the Bank of Greeleyville).

Weight Watchers meetings
Weight Watchers 2010 meeting will be held at First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays beginning at 5 p.m.

Stump meeting to be held
An old fashion stump meeting will be held July 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brown’s Brother Warehouse with Chairperson of the State Party Karen Floyd as emcee. All republican candidates running in statewide offices, as well as US Congress District 6; W.C. Council District 7, Mike Floyd; and SC House of Representatives 101, Barbara Mishoe.
Registration to be held
The Occupational Outlook Center is now accepting registration for the following classes to being in July. Phlebotomy certificate, this 10 weeks course, is designed to provide students with a review of the theory and skills required in proper collection of blood specimens from patients. Certified nurse assistant in this nine weeks course, students will prepare for the written and skills state examination. Course includes 40 hours of classroom instruction along with 40 hours of clinical externship. For more information, please contact (843) 545-8400 or (843) 545-9321.

Library summer happenings
 On Wednesday, July 7, Tim Sonefelt will present Tim Sonefelt’s Pirates of the Carolinas at 11 a.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Hemingway Branch and at 3 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Kingstree.  Join the Williamsburg County Library on Thursday, July 8, to watch a movie at 1 p.m. in Hemingway and 4 p.m. in Kingstree.

Weatherization Program
Waccamaw EOC, Inc. will begin accepting applications on site for their Weatherization Program Year, April 1, 2010-March 31, 2011.  Dates and location are as follows:

Vital Aging to hold meeting
Vital Aging of Williamsburg County, Inc. will hold its monthly Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, July 21, at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Kingstree Wellness Center at 912 4th Avenue, Kingstree. Please call (843) 354-5496 if you have any questions.
