The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of July.

Senior Bingo in Lane
The senior citizens in Lane invite any senior citizen to join them each first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo,” where they do crafting, have Bible trivia, sing, share, fellowship and play Bingo.

Seniors patrol wellness check
The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden resident of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford. Chief Ford can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number and address.

Tideland’s Hospice meeting
Tidelands Community Hospice, Inc. holds a regular grief support group once a month in its Kingstree office. The group meets on the third Monday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m.  The hospice office is located at 205 Martin Luther King Blvd., Kingstree (by the Bank of Greeleyville).

Weight Watchers meetings
Weight Watchers 2010 meeting will be held at First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays beginning at 5 p.m.

Stump meeting to be held
An old fashion stump meeting will be held July 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brown’s Brother Warehouse with Chairperson of the State Party Karen Floyd as emcee.
All republican candidates running in statewide offices, as well as US Congress District 6; W.C. Council District 7, Mike Floyd; and SC House of Representatives 101, Barbara Mishoe.
Vital Aging to hold meeting
Vital Aging of Williamsburg County, Inc. will hold its monthly Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, July 21, at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Kingstree Wellness Center at 912 4th Avenue, Kingstree. Please call (843) 354-5496 if you have any questions.

Mental Health to hold meeting
The regular meeting of The Waccamaw Center for Mental Health Governing Board is scheduled for Tuesday, July 20, at 7 p.m. at the Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 525 Lafayette Circle, Georgetown. For information please call Mrs. Gawith at (843) 347-5060, extension 226.

NAACP to hold meeting
The NAACP will meet August 8, at Siloam Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Madison Ave., Kingstree at 4 p.m. All are welcome and the NAACP is seeking new members.

Library summer happenings
Join us as we watch a movie on Wednesday, July 14, and on Wednesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Hemingway Branch and at 3 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Kingstree. On Wednesday, July 28, the library will be having its Summer Reading Finale with storytelling and balloon twisting with Island Paradise Balloon Art, storytelling, Walking Tours from Charleston at 11 a.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Hemingway Branch and at 3 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Kingstree.

DSN to hold board meeting
Williamsburg County DSN Board will be having their monthly board meeting on Wednesday, July 21, at 4 p.m. at Williamsburg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, 61 Greenlee Street, Kingstree.

WEOC to hold meeting
The WEOC will hold a special called board meeting on Monday, July 19, at 6 p.m. at the administrative office, 1261 Highway 501 East, Suite B, Conway.  The public is welcome to attend.

County Rec. to hold registration
The Williamsburg County Recreation Department is currently preparing for our 2010-2011 Small Fry and Mite football season. Registration sites, dates, and times are as follows: Small Fry ages (8-10) Mites (11-12); Chavis One Stop Complex (Hemingway), 12 p.m.-8 p.m., M/T/TH through August 6; Pearl Whack Center (Greeleyville),6 p.m.-8p.m., T/TH through August 6; Williamsburg Co. Rec. (Kingstree), 6 p.m.-8 p.m. M/W through  August 6
VFW to hold meeting
Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6500, located at 2317 Sandy Bay Rd., Kingstree, will host its monthly meal and meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 5. For further information, contact Dentist B.
