Senior Bingo in Lane
The senior citizens in Lane invite any senior citizen to join them each first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo,” where they do crafting, have Bible trivia, sing, share, fellowship and play Bingo.
Seniors patrol wellness check
The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check.
Any elderly, ill or bedridden resident of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford.
Chief Ford can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number and address.
Tideland’s Hospice meeting
Tidelands Community Hospice, Inc. holds a regular grief support group once a month in its Kingstree office. The group meets on the third Monday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. The hospice office is located at 205 Martin Luther King Blvd., Kingstree (by the Bank of Greeleyville).
Weight Watchers meetings
Weight Watchers 2010 meeting will be held at First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays beginning at 5 p.m.

Workshop to be held
The South Carolina Department of Agriculture will host the first annual Eat Smart…it’s in the garden workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 21, at the Sandhill Research and Education Center Lake House, 905 Clemson Road, Columbia.

Stump meeting to be held
An old fashion stump meeting will be held July 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brown’s Brother Warehouse with Chairperson of the State Party Karen Floyd as emcee. All republican candidates running in statewide officers, as well as District 6 and 7, Mike and Barbara Mishoe, 107.
Family Day to be held
The Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church sponsors Lynches River Family Day on July 4, at 11 a.m. Everyone who registers by 11 a.m. has a chance to win a $200 Walmart gift card. Bring a friend to enter a drawing for a $25 Walmart card.
Registration to be held
The Occupational Outlook Center is now accepting registration for the following classes to being in July. Phlebotomy certificate, this 10 weeks course, is designed to provide students with a review of the theory and skills required in proper collection of blood specimens from patients. Certified nurse assistant in this nine weeks course, students will prepare for the written and skills state examination. Library summer happenings
There will not be a Summer Reading Program on Thursday, July 1. Join the Williamsburg County Library on Thursday, July 8, to watch a movie at 1 p.m. in Hemingway and 4 p.m. in Kingstree. Come one! Come all! The Williamsburg County Library is inviting all children ages infant to 12 to sign up for our Vacation Reading Club. The theme this year is Make a Splash READ. Sign up will be from June 9, to the end of June. Read 10 hours and earn your certificate and prize. Join them on Wednesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Hemingway Branch and at 3 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Kingstree. They will be having Carolina Wildlife Cares from Columbia, doing a Wild Wonders Program on From Shells to Tails to Scales, utilizing live birds, reptiles and artifacts from both, students have fun discovering the similarities and differences of these strange animals that hatch from eggs. They may seem different at first, but children are amazed to discover just how similar birds and reptiles really are! On Wednesday, July 7, Tim Sonefelt will present Tim Sonefelt’s Pirates of the Carolinas at 11 a.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Hemingway Branch and at 3 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Library – Kingstree.
The Williamsburg County Library in Kingstree, the Hemingway Branch, and the Bookmobile will be closed on Friday, July 2, and Saturday, July 3, for the Fourth of July holiday. The libraries and bookmobile will resume hours on Monday, July 5.
