The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of June.

Senior Bingo in Lane
The senior citizens in Lane invite any senior citizen to join them each first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo,” where they do crafting, have Bible trivia, sing, share, fellowship and play Bingo.

Seniors patrol wellness check
The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check.
Any elderly, ill or bedridden resident of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford.
Chief Ford can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number and address.

Tideland’s Hospice meeting
Tidelands Community Hospice, Inc. holds a regular grief support group once a month in its Kingstree office. The group meets on the third Monday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. The hospice office is located at 205 Martin Luther King Blvd., Kingstree (by the Bank of Greeleyville).

Weight Watchers meetings
Weight Watchers 2010 meeting will be held at First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays beginning at 5 p.m.

Friends of Library book sales
The Friends of the Library will sponsor a book sale on the first Saturday in each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The book sale will be held at the white house on Church Street, Kingstree, beside the library.

Class reunion to be held
Kingstree Senior High class of 1985 will celebrate its 25th year class reunion during Labor Day weekend. Plans have been made and Sunset Acres has been booked for your enjoyment from Friday, September 3 to Sunday, September 5.  The festivities include meet and greet on Friday; family and friends picnic and “80’s party” on Saturday; and Sunday morning gospel brunch. Adult class offered
Do you need Work Keys? Do you need computer skills for employment? Come and see Williamsburg County School District Adult & Community Education to find out what they can do for you. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Williamsburg Adult Education Center, 500 N. Academy St., Kingstree. For more information call (843) 355-6887.

Baseball camp to be held
The annual Coker College Skills & Drills Summer Baseball Camp will be held June 14 to June 18, on the Coker College Baseball Complex. The five sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The camp will be devoted to pitching, hitting, bunting and base running. The camp is open to players ages 6-17 and the cost is $65 for the week. Participants will need to provided their own bat and glove. All other equipment will be furnished by the camp. Each camp participant will receive a camp t-shirt. The camp will be conducted by Coker College Head Baseball Coach Dave Schmotzer. DSN to hold board meeting
Williamsburg County DSN Board will be having their monthly board meeting on Wednesday, June 16, at 4 p.m. at Williamsburg County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, 61 Greenlee Street, Kingstree.

Workshop to be held
The South Carolina Department of Agriculture with funding from Eat Smart, Move More SC will host the first annual Eat Smart…it’s in the garden workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 21, at the Sandhill Research and Education Center Lake House, 905 Clemson Road, Columbia. All teachers – preschool, elementary, after school, home school and even Sunday school teachers will have the opportunity to learn how to maintain or expand an existing school vegetable garden. They will also be able to network with other educators, school personnel and workshop leaders who will be invited to share their success stories. The workshop is free but space is limited, so pre-registration is required by Tuesday, June 15. Vital Aging to hold meeting
Vital Aging of Williamsburg County, Inc. will hold its monthly board of directors meeting on Wednesday, June 23, at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Kingstree Wellness Center at 912 4th Avenue, Kingstree. Please call (843) 354-5496 if you have any questions.

Family Day to be held
The Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church sponsors Lynches River Family Day on July 4, at 11 a.m.  Everyone who registers by 11 a.m. has a chance to win a $200 Walmart gift card. Bring a friend to enter a drawing for a $25 Walmart card.

Reunion to be held
The neighborhood children of the 60s of Wilkinson and Harrell Streets will celebrate their fourth neighborhood reunion beginning Friday, June 25, at 7 p.m. at the BCF Reception Center, 1956 Thur-good Marshall Dr., Kingstree. There will be a fashion, music and food. On Saturday, June 26, at 4 p.m. a picnic will be held on the streets of Wilkinson and Harrell.

Summer program offered
An Academic Gifted and Talented Summer Enrichment Program will be available for students in grades third to sixth in Williamsburg County School District. This summer program will be held the week of June 7-24, at Kingstree Elementary School. This enrichment camp is open to students who have been identified based on their academic abilities. The theme for this summer odyssey is, “Taking a Journey to Africa.” Classes will be held Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Stump meeting to be held
An old fashion stump meeting will be held July 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brown’s Brother Warehouse with Chairperson of the State Party Karen Floyd as emcee. All republican candidates running in statewide officers, as well as District 6 and 7, Mike and Barbara Mishoe, 107.
