Traffic Safety Checkpoints- The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of February.

Seniors Patrol- The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden resident of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford. Chief Ford can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number and address.

Memory Dish - Hospice Care of South Carolina's Grief Support Group, known as the "Memory Dish" is held the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Williamsburg Technical Col-lege (Administrative Office Building Conference Room). The Memory Dish is conducted by Chaplain Willis Broughton. The contact number for this group is: (843) 213-8507.

Tidelands Hospice - Tidelands Community Hos-pice, Inc. holds a regular grief support group once a month in its Kingstree office The group meets on the third Monday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. The hospice office is located at 205 Martin Luther King Blvd., Kingstree (by the Bank of Greeleyville).

Program - Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) Weight Program will meet on Thursdays at 9:15 a.m. at Ina Miles Store. For more information contact Lillie Jean at (843) 355-3002 or Ann at (843) 382-9696.

Senior Bingo - The senior citizens in Lane invite any senior citizen to join them each first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo.”

Weight Watchers - Weight Watchers 2012 meetings will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays at 5 p.m.

Screenings - Williamsburg County School District Office of Special Services, located at 500 North Academy Street, Kingstree, 843-355-5533, will hold child find screenings each month.

Meeting - The South Carolina Beekeepers Association will hold its annual spring meeting on Saturday, March 3, in Columbia at the Palmetto GBA Center which is located off exit 19, I-77, .7 miles on right on Farrow Road. Exhibition- The C. Williams Rush Gallery of African-American Arts and Collectables, 200 Hampton Ave., Kingstree, will hold an exhibition “African Americans in History” from February 1 to February 29. For information about the Gallery and upcoming exhibitions call (803) 397-1859.

Free Tax Help- Free tax help sites will open throughout the Williamsburg County area during this tax season. The Williamsburg County Library and Williams-burg Enterprise Community Commission, Inc. (WECC), in partnership with the IRS will provide services at the following dates and times: Mondays- from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 19 and April 2; Tuesdays- February 28, March 1, 8, 15, 22 ,29 and April 5; Saturday-March 3.
These services will be at the Hemingway Library on Tuesdays, by appointment only. To find other free tax help sites in Williamsburg County, please call 843-355-9070 or the IRS at 1-800-829-1040.

Yoga Class - There will be a free beginners yoga class on Thursday, February 23, at 5:50 p.m. at the Williamsburg County Public Library in Kingstree. Please bring your own yoga mat or exercise mat. Beginners classes are offered three times weekly and chair yoga classes are offered twice weekly throughout the month. Purse-A-Palooza - The Pilot Club of Kingstree will hold a Soup and Cornbread Luncheon and Purse-A-Palooza Silent Auc-tion on Friday, February 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kingstree United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Support Group- The  Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group will meet the third Friday of each month from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Williamsburg Technical College, Classroom # 226. Participants may park in the front or back visitor’s parking lot.  Contact person for this group is Nancy Adams (843-822-5133). The support group is free and open to the public.  All family members and friends are invited to attend.

Service - General Marion’s Brigade Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will conduct a memorial service for General Francis Marion on Monday, February 27, at  11 a.m. at Marion’s Tomb. The public is invited. Marion’s Tomb is located off Hwy. 45 west of Pineville and St. Stephen. Judge Francis Marion Kirk and Mr. John Wiggins will be guest speakers. Dessert Theater
Kingstree Middle School Showstoppers will sponsor a Dessert Theater on Tuesday, February 28, at 6 p.m. at Kenneth Gardner Elementary School. The play “Wizard of Oz” will be presented.  Tickets are $5 and can be purchased by contacting Mrs. Jennifer Holliday, Coordinator of Fine Arts, at Williamsburg County School District (843) 355-5571.

Crafters - Seeking crafters! A Craft Exhibit will be held April 21, at Kingstree Recreation Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 375 Nelson Blvd., Kingstree.

Blood Drive - Santee Electric Cooperative is hosting an American Red Cross community blood drive at 424 Sumter Highway on Tuesday, February 28, from 12:30  p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Santee’s conference center.  Your participation is very badly needed. Lives depend upon it. The lives of those needing blood are seriously threatened.  Odds are that the vast majority of us will need blood as some point in our lives to maintain.  The sad fact is that a very small percentage of less than 10 percent donates 100 percent of that collected.  Please mark the date on your calendar to save lives. The lives saved by your donation could very well be that of family or friends.        
In addition to drinks and snacks, tasty pizza will be provided by Dominos. Please do not forget to bring positive identification in the form of a donor card, driver’s license, etc.  Please note the earlier than usual time and make plans to give the “gift of life”…GIVE BLOOD.  

Class - A Concealed Weapon Permit class will be held March 23, at 8 a.m. at the Kingstree Police Department, located at 401 N. Longstreet St. Each person must have a weapon and holster with 50 rounds of ammunition for qualification.
