Traffic Safety Checkpoints
The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of December.

Seniors patrol wellness check
The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden resident of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford. Chief Ford can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number and address.

Friends of Library book sales
The Friends of the Library will sponsor a book sale on the first Saturday in each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The book sale will be held at the white house on Church Street, Kingstree, beside the library.

Senior Bingo in Lane
The senior citizens in Lane invite any senior citizen to join them each first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo,” where they do crafting, have Bible trivia, sing, share, fellowship and play Bingo.

NAACP to hold meeting
The Williamsburg Chapter of the NAACP will hold their monthly meeting on December 13, at the Siloam Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Madison Ave., Kingstree at 4 p.m. Business of importance to be discussed. They are seeking new memberships.

Weight Watchers begins new class
Weight Watchers 2010 meeting will be held at Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 314 E. Main St., Kingstree. Registration will be held January 7, at 5 p.m. Class starts January 14, at 5 p.m.

Vital Aging to hold meeting
Vital Aging of Williamsburg County, Inc. will hold its regular monthly Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday December 16, at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Kingstree Wellness Center at 912 4th Avenue, Kingstree. Please call (843) 354-5496 if you have any questions.

Free adult program offered
There will be a free adult program on Thursday, December 10, at 6:15 p.m.  Mitzi Boyd and Betty Smith will be showing how to make earrings for Christmas.  Limited seating available so please sign up today.

First Steps to hold meetings
Williamsburg County First Steps will have a Board Meeting Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. in the Williamsburg County First Steps Building H located 500 North Academy Street. Williamsburg County First Steps will have an Executive Committee Meeting on Monday, December 7, at 4:30 p.m. in the Williamsburg County First Steps Office Building H located 500 North Academy Street, Kingstree. Toys for Tots drop off points
Toys for Tots drop off points are Dollar General, McDonald’s, Bi-Lo and Food Lion stores. Please donate a new unwrapped toy.

Classes now being offered
The Occupational Outlook Center is now accepting registration for the following classes.
EKG (cardiac technician)-this nine-week course is designed to provide students with the skills on monitoring patients’ blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Medical office assistant-this six weeks course allow students to acquire vital skills and demonstrate competence in a variety of medical office administration and clinical skills necessary for employment in the medical office setting. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  For more information, please contact (843) 545-8400.

Spring registration at WTC
Begin 2010 by registering for spring semester at Williamsburg Technical College.
Registration will be held January 6, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and January 7, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Course schedule information is available at www.wiltech.edu or by visiting the College. Williamsburg Technical College is your college, your future!

First Steps offers training
Williamsburg County First Steps will host a Child Care Training on Saturday, December 12,  at 8:30 a.m. in the Williamsburg County School District Annex Staff Development Room located 500 North Academy Street, Kingstree, SC. Providers can receive information in “Taking a Closer Look as We Work with Parents. Providers will receive 5.0 DSS credit hours in Program Administration. Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting
The Town of Kingstree Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held December 11, at 6 p.m. The parade will line up on Jackson Street at 5 p.m., and the Tree Lighting Ceremony will immediately follow the Christmas Parade in Welch Park. W.M. Anderson hosts musical
W. M. Anderson Primary will host its annual Christmas musical entitled, “The Night the Reindeer Rocked,” on Thursday, December 10, at Williamsburg County Complex beginning at 6 p.m.  This musical will be directed by Ms. Virginia Graham-Peele, a teacher and supporter of the arts. Parents and community members are invited to join Anderson Primary for this festive occasion.
