Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office deemed a recent shooting as accidental. According to an incident report, on July 19, deputies responded to a shooting incident on 65 Shannon Loop in Kingstree.
The report states that a 13-year-old male had been playing with toy guns before the child entered the bedroom of Brittany Conyers, 19. According to a statement made by homeowner Jonathon Floyd, a .38 caliber revolver was kept in Conyers bedroom for protection because of suspicious activity that had been going on in the area.
When Conyers saw the boy enter her bedroom, she yelled that there was a gun in the room and proceeded to follow the boy. Floyd stated he heard Conyers say “No!” and then heard a gunshot. Conyers then appeared from the bedroom stating she had been shot in the head. Deputies later photographed and confiscated the weapon as evidence. The boy was questioned by authorities but was unable to respond. Conyers was taken to Williamsburg Regional Hospital where she was examined and later released. No charges will be filed.
