Funeral services for Thomas Williams, conducted by the Rev. Otis Williams and the Rev. Fred Addison, were held Monday, December 3, 2012, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Salters Cemetery of Salters.
Mr. Williams, 68, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center of Charleston. He was born September 19, 1944, in Lane, the son of Mary Mae Pasley Williams and the late John Arthur Williams. He graduated from Bonds-Wilson High School of North Charleston. After graduation, he moved to New York, and he joined the United States Air Force, where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon returning to New York, he began working for United Parcel Service (UPS), where he retired after 20 years of service. After retiring, he moved to Charleston, and he started his own trucking business. He was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Decatur, Georgia; are: two daughters, Gia Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Shannon Ray of Biloxi, Mississippi; two brothers, Johnny Williams (Hadie) of Seattle, Washington; and Robert Williams (Edna “Eddie”) of Garner, North Carolina; three sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Fludd (John) of Decatur, Georgia; Gloria Johnston (Don) of Summerville; and Debra Kelly of Charleston; and one granddaughter.
