[/if ImageKingstree] A Salters woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday, January 10. Martha Niles was traveling north on U.S. 521 near St. Lawrence Center when her vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
According to Williamsburg County Coroner Harrison McKnight, Niles was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple trauma sustained in the crash. Henry D. Collins, a passenger, was taken to Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree for treatment.
According to the Horry County Solicitor’s Office, Niles was expected to be in an Horry County courtroom the following Monday morning to face the charge of accessory after the fact of murder relating to the 2007 shooting death of James Salter.
Salter was shot to death outside a Best Buy in Myrtle Beach. The case against Niles, her 24-year-old son, Richard Niles, Jr., and Mokeia Hammond, 20, both of Salters, and Ervin Moore, 26, of Greensboro, N.C., was continued.
