SILAS JAMES, RUSSELLVILLE

Funeral services for Silas Jonathan James, conducted by the Rev. Benjamin Milligan, were held Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church of Pineville. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Mr. James died Sunday, September 9, 2012. He was born March 12, 1921, in the Battle Community of Russell County, Alabama, a son of Annie Bell Comer James and John Henry James. He worked in a steel mill in Lima, Ohio. He was married to the late Queen Ester Wall, and later married Annie Mae Gadsden. He worked for the Warshaw Construction Company for many years, and upon his retirement he moved to Russellville. He was a member of Redeemer Reformed Episcopal Church of Pineville. Survivors are: five children, Ella Newton of Fort Myers, Florida; Eva Rembert (Theodore) of Pineville; Lynda Peterson of Covington, Georgia; Dorothy Cobb (Ezekiel) of Lima, Ohio; and Linda Governor (Anthony) of Brentwood, New York; one sister, Evabelle Smith; Essie Parks, a niece which was like a daughter; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Orlando Brown, Herman Cooper, Jonah Peterson, Jr. Lyle Cooper, Luther Howell, and Roger Rembert.
