RUBY LANE, GREELEYVILLE

Mrs. Ruby Alice “Miss Ruby” Coker Lane, 78, widow of Holland Lane, died Friday, September 7, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Lane was born June 25, 1934, a daughter of the late Henry Wheeler and Minnie Llewellen Coker. She was a graduate of East Clarendon High School and was owner of Lane’s Shopping Center on Lake Marion until her retirement. She was a member of Little Star Pentecostal Holiness Church and also attended Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. She loved traveling with her Golden Girls and enjoyed trips to near and far. Three sisters, Nobia Coker Plowden, Myrtle Lee Craft, and Ruth Coker Locklear, and five brothers, Corey Coker, Eugene Coker, Shelley Coker, Leo Coker, and Ray Coker, preceded her in death. Survivors are: Donna McClam (Milton), a special niece who was like a daughter; and several other nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, c/o Alice Dukes, 2340 Manning Hwy., Greeleyville, SC 29056 or a charity of one’s choice.
