Mrs. Lillie “Pete” Tarlton, 84, of Asheboro, North Carolina, wife of Billy C. Tarlton, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Randolph Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Canon R. Larry Emerson, Vicar officiating. Burial, directed by Pugh Funeral Home, followed in Wadesboro, North Carolina at Jowers Cemetery. Mrs. Tarlton was born in Anson County, North Carolina to parents Roy Hinson Diggs and Effie Henry Diggs. She had a great love for animals and was a long time volunteer at the North Carolina Zoo. She worked several years in the textile industry. Survivors are: her husband, Billy C. Tarlton, two daughters, Patty Herbert (Fred) of Kingstree; and Cheryl Hurley (Rocky) of Asheboro; four sons, Ronald Tarlton (Helen) and Billy Ray Tarlton (Janice), both of Asheboro; James Tarlton (Diane) of Thomasville; and Kenneth Tarlton (Carolyn) of Randleman; one brother, Max Diggs of Norwood; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
