NETTIE BURROUGHS - KINGSTREE

Funeral services for Nettie Burroughs were held Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Kingdom Hall Cemetery. Ms. Burroughs died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at her residence. She was born June 15, 1933, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Annie and George Burroughs. She was educated in Cedar Swamp Elementary School and Kingstree Senior High School. Later she attended nursing school in Brooklyn, New York. She was employed at St. John’s Hospital and Methodist Hospital for 32 years. In 1995, she moved back home and worked at Ronald McNair Nursing Home in Lake City and Scranton Nursing Home in Scranton until she retired. She became a full-time pioneer minister in September 1996. She was preceded in death by one son, J.C. James, Jr. Survivors are: one daughter, Delorise James; three sisters, Chevina Cohen (Randell) of Summerville; Wyona McClendon (Sylvester) of Kingstree; and Nancy Burroughs of Brooklyn, New York; and two brothers, Elijah Burroughs (Colechia) and Willie Burroughs, both of Brooklyn, New York.
