Margaret Starling, 63, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at her residence in Middletown, New York. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Union Baptist Church No. 1 of Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Rocky Ford Cemetery of Salters. Ms. Starling was born November 21, 1948, in Kingstree, a daughter of Ada Mack Starling and the late Deacon James Daniel Starling. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from Williamsburg County Training School (C.E. Murray High School) as an honor graduate. She furthered her education at Voorhees College in Denmark and Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. Upon graduate, the Lane Head Start Program employed her for a short period of time. In 1966, she moved to Middletown, New York. She was employed by New York State Department of Mental Health, retiring in 2010. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Salters, are: two brothers, Deacon Leon Starling (Rosemarie) of Greeleyville; and Kenneth Starling (Gwendolyn) of Salters; and two sisters, Deloris Cruz of Hohenfels, Germany; and Lachelle Johnson of Charlotte, North Carolina.
