Mrs. Magdalene Strickland Owens, 84, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services for Mrs. Owens were held Sunday, December 13, 2009, at the Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, followed at Lake City Memorial Park. Mrs. Owens was born in Florence County on November 15, 1925, a daughter of the late Archie Bright Strickland and Virgil Lee Powell Strickland. She was married to the late James David Owens. She retired from Baxter Laboratories and was a member of Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
