Funeral services for Letha Mae Patrick Wilson, conducted by the Rev. Obed Conyers, were held Friday, November 6, 2009, at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Salters Cemetery in Salters.
Mrs. Wilson, 79, died Sunday, November 1, 2009, at her residence in Salters. She was born April 20, 1930, in Salters, a daughter of the late Leland Patrick and Dellia Cooper Patrick. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher, missionary and president of the kitchen committee. She was employed by Oneita Knitting Mill of Andrews for many years. She later became a caregiver for the young and the old in the community. She was married to the late James “Tookey” Wilson, Sr. A son, Tracey “Flip” Wilson preceded her in death. Survivors are: one son, James Wilson, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; six daughters, Margaret McClam (Bennie Joe) of St. Stephen; Frances Cooper, Emma Ruth Cooper, Albertha Wilson and Delia Ann Salters, all of Salters; and Nicole Wilson Brown (Andrew) of Charleston; 34 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
