KING FULTON, SR. - LANE

Funeral services for Deacon King E. Fulton, Sr., conducted by the Rev. Sam Giles and the Rev. Elder B. Holmes, were held Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Antioch Baptist Church in Lane. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Wesley-Mt. Zion Cemetery in Salters. Deacon Fulton died Sunday, December 6, 2009. He was born March 17, 1932, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Solomon Fulton and Trudy Fulton Darby. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he served for several years on the Trustee Board and Deacon Board. He was employed at the Lane Pole Company for 26 years and later he worked at Oneita Knitting Mills for 10 years until his retirement. In 1997, he became employed for the Williamsburg County Recycling Center. Two children, James B. Fulton and Catrina Fulton, preceded him in death. Survivors are; his wife, Alice A. Fulton of the home; three sons, King E. Fulton, Jr. of San Jose, California; the Rev. Charlie K. Fulton (Loretta) and Kenneth L. Fulton (Sherry), both of Lane; three daughters, Ida R. Fulton, Patricia A. Keels (Abram) and Vera M. Murray (Elder Nathaniel, all of Lane; one brother, Solomon Fulton (Carrie) of Bishopville; two sisters, Alma Jones of Lane; and Carrie L. Sabb of Georgetown, a cousin who was like a brother, Leroy Chandler (Mattie) of Kingstree; an adopted mother, Mary E. Gordon of Lane; four adopted daughters, Hazeline Evans of Greeleyville; Christine Green of Lane; Jerline Snow of Kingstree; and Sylvestine Newsome (Edwin) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
