John S. Brown, Jr., 81, widower of Katherine Bookhardt Brown, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the N.E. and Ruby Green Hospice House, in Georgetown.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Brown was born in Williamsburg County, the son of John S. Brown, Sr. and Pearl Altman Brown. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and served in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Italy after World War II. Mr. Brown was employed by Santee Electric Cooperative for 45 years, retiring in 1994 as Director of Outside Operations. He was a past chairman of the Town of Kingstree Planning Commission. Surviving is a daughter Linda W. Brown of Kingstree. Memorials may be made to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N.
