John Edward “Ed” Brown, 81, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at the Kingstree Nursing Facility. Graveside funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Craig Pipkin, were held Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Kingstree Memorial Gardens, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Brown was born August 16, 1931, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Herbert McGill and Edith McCollough Brown. He attended Williamsburg County schools and Carlisle Military Academy and was a retired farmer and businessman. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he had served as Chairman of the Deacons. He was an avid hunter and was a member of Turkey Creek Hunting Club, Rhems Hunting Club and had served as a guide at Backwoods Quail Club. Survivors are: his wife, Mary Emma Cantley Brown of the home; and one son, John Edward “Johnny” Brown of Kingstree.
