JAMES MCFADDEN, SR. - GREELEYVILLE

Funeral services for Dea. James Motticah “Mottie C.” McFadden, Sr., conducted by the Rev. Joseph D. Ricks, were held Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Porter-Ferrell Cemetery in Salters. Dea. McFadden, 83, died Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter. He was born July 31, 1926, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Johnny McFadden and Alberta Jackson McFadden. He was preceded in death by two sons, Hezekiah McFadden and Ricky McFadden. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a life long member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board, as president of the choir and also president of the Willing Workers Choir. He was a former member of Woodstock Masonic Loge. He worked as a machine operator for Sharpe Road Construction Company of Turbeville until he retired. He was married to the late Reather Carroway McFadden. Survivors are: his wife, Carrie Lizzie Brown McFadden of the home; 10 children, Mary E. Brown, Theron McFadden (Betty), Leroy McFadden, Margo Scott, (David, Sr.), Linda Hunter (Linburg), Gloria Wright (Jerome), Terrence McFadden (Patricia), Parris Miller (Terance), all of Kingstree; Min. Johnny Lee McFadden (Mamie) of Manning; and Micheal McFadden (Ilene) of Summerville; two step-children, Theodore Cooper (Denise) of Bridgeport, Connecticut; and Carl Cooper of Greeleyville; 67 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
