Funeral services for James “Boston” Giles, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robbie McKesson, were held Monday, January 18, 2010, at Old Mt. Zion AME Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Cemetery in Kingstree.
Mr. Giles died Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at his home in Salters. He was born July 7, 1947, in Kingstree, a son of the late Charlie Giles, Sr. and Mary Alice Brockington Giles. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of Old Mt. Zion AME Zion Church in Kingstree. He was employed by several industries. He worked at Wellman, Inc. of Hemingway during his early years. Later he was employed by John Deere Tri County Tractors of Kingstree for nearly 15 years. He was a very skilled mechanic. Recent years, he worked as supervisor for Cherokee Cooperation of Columbia. He was married to Mrs. Margie Williams Giles. Survivors are: four daughters, Brenda Wilson (Ernie) of Kingstree; Sabrina Giles (William) and Elizabeth Brown (Trenton), both of Salters; and Chiquanna Giles of Florence; five brothers, Charlie Giles, Jr. (JoAnn) of New York, New York; Leon Giles (Patricia), Eddie Giles (Barbara), Levern Giles and Leroy Giles (Barbara), all of Kingstree; and six grandchildren.
