Funeral services for Isaac “Son” Davis, Sr., conducted by the Rev. Willie E. Holmes, were held Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. John AME Church of Andrews. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. John AME Church Cemetery of Andrews. Mr. Davis died Monday, May 28, 2012. He was born April 15, 1929, in the Morrisville Community, a son of the late Henry and Mary Davis. He was a member of St. John AME Church, where he was leader of Class #15, Sunday School Superintendent, and Trustee. He also sang with the Gospel, Senior and Men’s Choir. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County as a child and graduated from Williamsburg Technical College, where he obtained his license to become a skilled electrician. He was employed by Santee Electric, Wesvaco, Smith Logging Company, and the Low Country Wood Yard for many years. He was a member of the local Election Committee for Democratic Representatives. He was appointed manager of Morrisville Brass Band, on which he blew the lead trumpet. He was a member of Home Cherokee Masonic Lodge #415. He was also a member of the Concerned Citizens Group. Three sisters, Rebecca Pressley, Victoria McClary, and Hattie Conyers, preceded him in death. Survivors are: his wife, Willa Mae Davis of the home; his children, Willa Dorsey and Patricia Nesmith Davis, both of Georgetown; Betty Pressley and Gary Davis (Essie), both of Andrews; Isaac Davis, Jr. and Terry Davis, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; Gerome Davis (Angela) of Charleston; Gloria Davis of Rochester, New York; and Donna Nesmith (Patrick) of Florence; four brothers, Andrews Davis (Odessa) of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Bethel Davis, Willie M. Davis and Vander B. Davis (Minnie), all of Andrews; three sisters, Vivian McCray of Georgetown; Dorothy Davis of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Lee Ella Davis of Rochester, New York; 28 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
