Funeral services for Geraldine Keels, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Lewis Walker, Jr., were held Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Big Spring Cemetery in Greeleyville. Ms. Keels died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Tuomey Healthcare System in Sumter. She was born May 31, 1948, a daughter of the late Eloise Pringle Keels and Johnny Williams. She was a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the adult choir. She was a 1967 graduate of Williamsburg County Training School in Greeleyville. She was employed for many years as a seamstress at Manning Manufacturing Company and Kingstree Knit-wear. She was also employed as a cook in the Williamsburg County School District until she retired.
Survivors are: one son, Timothy Keels (Joshelia) of Kingstree; three daughters, Mrs. Trena Kelty (Jimmy) of Manning; Mrs. Tiffany Rodgers (Victor) of Columbia; and Shanay Keels of Manning; one brother, Willie Edward Keels of Columbia; two sisters, Sarah Wells of Florence; and Mrs. Mary Hammett (Bennett) of Troy, New York; and five grandchildren.
