FRANKLIN SCOTT, JR. - SALTERS

Funeral services for Deacon Franklin Scott, Jr., conducted by Obed Conyers, were held Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church of Salters. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Jim Davis Cemetery in Salters.
Deacon Scott died Friday, November 27, 2009, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. He was born January 12, 1945, in Salters, a son of Geneva Scott and the late Franklin Scott, Sr. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist  Church in Salters, where he served as past chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, and church saxon. He was employed at Harvin Lumber Company as a truck driver and fork lift operator for 25 years. He was also a farmer. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Charleston, are: his wife, Lesie Ann Scott of the home; one daughter, Mary Inez Scott of Salters; one son, Lamont “Mark” Scott of Johnsonville; one sister, Lucille Green of Florence; one brother, Loras Scott (Emma) of Salters; his step-mother-in-law, Mattie Oliver of Greeleyville; and five grandchildren.
