Edward Jones, an investment firm, celebrated on June 11, the grand opening of its Kingstree based office. Financial Advisor Whit Jordan will head the firm. Jordan began investing on his own as a child and has been involved with investment strategies all his life.
As Edward Jones offices continued to expand around the perimeters of the county, Jordan, who was previously in Manning, felt there was a need for the firm’s services in Williamsburg. “If you think about it, this county has $2.5 billion in investable assets,” said Jordan. “Most people would not believe that.”
Jordan also was attracted to the small town atmosphere and its outdoor opportunities. “A friend told me if I like to hunt and fish then Williamsburg County is the place to go.” Jordan already has a substantial client base and one of his investors was part of the ribbon cutting ceremony. Representative Kenneth Kennedy has been a client of Edward Jones for 25 years. “One of the best things I ever did was getting involved with them,” said Kennedy. “They have guided me over the years with my investments and have done a great job so I am so happy to see them in our community.” Senator Yancey McGill also participated in the celebration. He welcomed Jordan and Edward Jones, on behalf of the delegation, officials, the chamber and the citizens, saying it is a blessing, because it is the first of its type. Both Kennedy and McGill voiced a hope that in the future Jordan will offer his financial expertise to school children, as well as its citizens since investing for the future is so important.
Jordan is an active member of his church, a member of the Williamsburg HomeTown Chamber and is a committee member of the South Carolina Waterfowl Association. His plans are to further his participating in community efforts but for the moment, he looks forward to establishing a personal relationship with the citizens of Williamsburg. “I am here to help meet and maintain your financial goals and estate planning,” he said. “But my main goal is I want to get involved with the family. That way, I can better help you make the right decisions with their finances.” Allison Inman accompanies Jordan as branch office administrator.
Edward Jones is headquartered in St. Louis and is one of the only firms to serve individual investor exclusively. It locates its offices in communities so financial advisors can develop face-to-face, personal relationships with clients.
