Funeral services for Master Deoveya Omontrey “Trey” McCrea, conducted by the Rev. J. Jeannetté Cooper and Bishop Dr. Linwood Cooper, were held Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery of Kingstree. Master McCrea died Saturday, March 2, 2013. He was born September 1, 2000, in Florence, the son of Lakesha M. and Charles Canteen. He was an honor student at Kingstree Middle School. He attended Trinity Believers Holiness Church, where he was a member of the Youth Choir. He was MVP on the Williamsburg Recreation Football team, “The Steelers.” One sister, Cherish A. McCrea, preceded him in death. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Kingstree, are: one sister, Shi’Shanee McCrea of Kingstree; one brother, Lavoris Simon of Winston Salem, North Carolina; his grandparents, Barbara Wagner and Larry Scott, both of Kingstree; Barbara Canteen of Georgetown; and Charles Williams of Hemingway; his step-grandmother, Sylvia Brown of Hemingway; and his great-grandmother, Ruth Scott of Kingstree.
Floral bearers were Tameya Shaw, Jada Dukes, Latoya Tisdale, Ariel Epps, Shalonda Palmer, Khumya Nelson, Arianna Gamble, and Keiondrea McCrea.
