Funeral services for Dennis “CJ” or “Sheriff” Cohen, III, were held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the William N. Redmond Chapel of Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at White Oak Cemetery of Lake City.

Master Cohen, 8, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Medical University of South Carolina of Charleston. He was born June 20, 2003, in Gainesville, Florida, a son of Dennis Cohen, Jr. and Chantel Marie Bass Cohen. He attended Orange Grove Elementary School of Charleston and later Anderson Primary School of Kingstree. He attended Faith Deliverance Holiness Church, where he sang on the choir. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: three brothers, Devence Cohen, Denerius Cohen and Derien Cohen, all of the home; three sisters, Denezyia Cohen, Desire Cohen, and Drelyn Cohen, all of the home; four additional siblings; his maternal grandparents, Dolores Williams (Joe) of Kingstree; and James Bass, Sr. of Starke, Florida; his paternal grandmother, Priscilla Jackson of Starke, Florida; and his maternal great-grandfather, Cornelius Bass of Starke, Florida.
