South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate a crash that left a 12-year-old and 17-year-old dead and two others hospitalized.
Deoveya McCrea, 12, of Kingstree, was killed in a single vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday, March 2, in Williamsburg County. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, the crash occurred around 12:24 p.m., three miles east of Kingstree. McCrea died at the scene. The driver, Tyquan Allen, 17, of Kingstree, was flown to the Medical University of South Carolina, and he passed away Sunday morning, March 3. Two passengers were also injured in the crash. One passenger was flown to McLeod Regional Health Center and the other passenger was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The four occupants were traveling south on Pinckney Road in a 1995 Cadillac four door when the vehicle went off the road, struck a ditch, and overturned according to South Carolina Highway Patrol reports. Collins said at the present time they don’t believe any of the four occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
As of press time, the condition of the second and third passengers was not known.
