A vehicle stop turned into a high-speed chase and ended with one suspect charged with multiple offences including drug trafficking. On December 19, a Williamsburg County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to make a traffic stop when David Romonte Vice, III, 26, of Kingstree. Vice was known to be driving under suspension. However, Vice refused to stop which led deputies on a high speed chase that lasted thirty minutes and encompassed an area from Red Road, into the Holywoods community and back to Red Road where deputies were able to stop the vehicle.
Vice was later charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Failure to Stop for Blue Light and Driving under Suspension. Vice was transported to the Williamsburg County Detention Center where he remains, as of press time. Officers seized approximately 75 grams of cocaine whose street value is estimated at nearly $4,000, approximately 2 pounds of marijuana and over $3,000 in cash. The week before, Vice was released on bail after being charged with kidnapping.
