The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of July.

Seniors patrol wellness check
The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden resident of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Chief Robert Ford. Chief Ford can be reached at 355-5435 or come by the police department and leave your name, phone number and address.

Weight Watchers meetings
Weight Watchers 2010 meeting will be held at First Baptist Church of Kingstree. Classes are on Thursdays beginning at 5 p.m.

Tideland’s Hospice meeting
Tidelands Community Hospice, Inc. holds a regular grief support group once a month in its Kingstree office. The group meets on the third Monday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m.  The hospice office is located at 205 Martin Luther King Blvd., Kingstree (by the Bank of Greeleyville).

Senior Bingo in Lane
The senior citizens in Lane invite any senior citizen to join them each first and third Tuesday at Lane Recreation Center on Broomstraw Rd. for “Senior Bingo.”

VFW to hold meeting
Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6500, located at 2317 Sandy Bay Rd., Kingstree, will host its monthly meal and meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 5. For further information, contact Dentist B. NAACP to hold meeting
The NAACP will meet August 8, at Siloam Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Madison Ave., Kingstree at 4 p.m. All are welcome and the NAACP is seeking new members.

County Rec. to hold registration
The Williamsburg County Recreation Department is currently preparing for its 2010-2011 Small Fry and Mite football season. Registration will be held on August 6. For more information contact the Williamsburg County Recreation Center at 355-5004.

Hospice to hold training
Winyah Hospice an Amedisys Co. is hosting a volunteer training Thursday, July 29,  6 p.m. This training will be open to the public. Please contact Stacie Moore 843-656-0820 to reserve seating.

Kidney screening offered
Kidney Health Risk Assessment will have a screening on Thursday, August 12, at Williamsburg County Recreation Complex, Thurgood Marshall Blvd., Kingstree.

Vital Aging to host dinner
On Tuesday, August 24, at 7 p.m., Vital Aging will be hosting a dinner and an evening with New York baseball legend Bobby Richardson at Santee Electric Cooperative, Conference Center located at 424 Sumter Highway, Kingstree. A buffet dinner will be served.  The proceeds benefit Vital Aging walk-in freezer fund for home delivered meals for the frail and elderly. WTC to hold registration
Williamsburg Technical College will hold a special early registration for new students with completed admission paperwork from July 22 to August 5, from 1 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. (Monday to Thursday). The admission application process must be complete to take advantage or early registration. Open registration for the public is scheduled for August 18, 3 to 9 p.m. and August 19, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. High school students may also register to take college courses while still in high school. Course information, admission applications and financial aid applications are available at www.wiltech.edu or by visiting Williamsburg Technical College.

Lake City Theatre holds auditions
The Lake City Community Theatre has decided to present the musical comedy “Pippin” as their spring production instead of “Cinderella” which was previously announced.
Auditions will be Monday, November 1, and Tuesday, November 2, at 7 p.m. at the Blanding Street Auditorium.  The dates for the presentation of “Pippin” at the Blanding St. Auditorium are Thursday, March 17, through Sunday, March 20.  This is the story of Pippin, the son of the fabled Charlemagne, who is searching for the real meaning and purpose of his life. Does he find it? Pippin was written by Roger O. Hirsch with lyrics/music by Stephen Schwartz.
School supply give-away
Beulah AME Church, 2272 Sumter Hwy., Kingstree, will giveaway free school supplies on Saturday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The free supplies will be given to the first 150 students (K-12). The student must be present to get free supplies. Come meet the new superintendent of Williamsburg County School District, Dr. Yvonne Jefferson Barnes.
