The guts of a mega-infrastructure lie above ground off of Gausetown Road. The fire hydrants are part of a water system poised on the edge of construction, thanks to the efforts of Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments and USDA Rural Development funding.

THIS WATER PROJECT FOR GAUSETOWN RESIDENTS IS A LONG-OVERDUE, BLESSING. HOWEVER, MANY RESIDENTS WERE/ARE NOT AWARE THAT A TAP IN FEE EXISTS. I PERSONALLY FOUND OUT TODAY(2/8/10) AND WAS TOLD THAT IF THE FEE (100.00) WAS NOT PAID WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, THEN THE FEE WOULD INCREASE TO 240.00, WITH ADDITIONAL INCREASES OVER TIME. COMMUNICATION(OR THE LACK THEREOF) IS A BIG ISSUE FOR ELDERLY PERSONS, AND RESIDENTS THAT ARE NOT AWARE OF THE FEE. SOME OWNERS LIVE OUT OF TOWN/STATE AND HAVE NOT BEEN PROPERLY ADVISED. I AM GOING DOOR TO DOOR IN MY COMMUNITY TRYING TO GET THE WORD OUT-ANY OTHER HELP IN GETTING THE WORD OUT IS WELCOMED!!
