Celia Mae Dotts Joe, 92, widow of John B. Joe, Sr., died Friday, November 16, 2012, at her residence of Greeleyville. The celebratory services for Mrs. Celia Mae Dotts Joe, conducted by the Rev. Richard McClary, the Rev. Levern O. Brown and Pastor Bobbie J. Adkins, were held Friday, November 23, 2012, at Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church of Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Samuels Funeral Home, followed at Rocky Ford Cemetery of Salters.
Mrs. Joe was born May 20, 1920, in Salters, a daughter of the late Rhodus Dotts and Louizer Mack Dotts. Eleven siblings, Corine Riggins, Emmett Dotts, Everlina Bryant, Ernest Dotts, Lillie Green, Queen Nelson, Edna Carolina, Louise Nelson, Wilson Dotts, Mary Ann McCullough and Blease Dotts, preceded her in death. She was a member of Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County at Union School of Salters. Survivors are: one daughter, Ruby Mae Joe; three sons, John Joe, Jr. (Marguerite), Larry Joe (Lucy), and Matthew Williams; her Goddaughter, Mrs. Betty Cooper (Leverne); her Godson, Joseph Dotts (Lillie); nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
