Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Lee “Nippy” Cleveland Davis, conducted by Pastor Curtis Dingle, were held Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Saint Phillips Baptist Church in St. Stephen. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Peru Cemetery in St. Stephen. Mrs. Davis died Thursday, August 12, 2010. She was born March 31, 1945, in Moncks Corner, the daughter of Moses and Rosa (Warring) Cleveland. She graduated from Russellville High School in 1962. She was married to Robert Davis. She attended Malcolm-King College, where she received her Associates Degree in Business Administration in 1987. She was employed for many years with the New York City Department of Social Services, where she led a distinguished and reputable career as a human resources administrator, receiving several commendations. Survivors are: her children, Robert, Dwayne and Lisa (Chaney); three brothers, Harold of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Neheamiah “Miah” of New Jersey; and Norwood “Noah” of Russellville; two sisters, Inella “Nella” Prioleau of St. Stephen; and Lorriane Cleveland of Russellville; and four grandchildren.
