BARBARA CANTY, KINGSTREE

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Jean “B.J.” Canty, conducted by Bishop John Warren, were held Friday, June 1, 2012, at Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery of Kingstree. Mrs. Canty died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the McLeod Hospice House of Florence. She was born August 26, 1946, a daughter of the late Peter and Lula Mae Whack. She was a graduate of C.E. Murray and attended Brooklyn Business of Brooklyn, New York to further her education. Two rewarding jobs were being a driver for the Williamsburg County School District and being a heavy construction equipment operator of various machines. Survivors are: her husband, Titus Oneal Canty; one sister, Shantel W. Troy; one who was like a sister, Louise Williams of Florida; her mother-in-law, Gladys Canty of Greeleyville; and three nephews she helped raise, Quantrell O. Whack, Rontrell S. Whack, and Xavier J. Whack.
